Human body contains approx. 4 to 6 litres of blood, it can be varies based on genders and build. Foods to Eat Before Blood Donation

1. VITAMIN C RICH DIET

Include vitamin c in diet, for vitamin c consume- citrus fruits oranges, pineapple, lemon, capsicum, green leafy vegetables, tomato, kiwi. Consumption of vitamin c rich foods is good for the blood donating peoples.

2. IRON RICH DIET

Iron plays a vital role in the body it also performs various physical tasks. If someone want to donate blood, then it is important to consume or include iron rich foods in their diet. For iron consume iron rich foods such as peas, beef, pumpkin, seeds, spinach, cashews, almonds, sunflower seeds, brown rice, whole bread, apricots.

3. DRINK PLENTY OF WATER

Drinking water is the most important thing to remember before the donating blood. It helps in controlling blood pressure. So it is suggested by the experts that the donor should be well hydrated before donating the blood. It is important to drink 3 glasses of water, around 2-3 hours before donating the blood.

4. JUICES

Consumption of fresh fruit juices within 48 hours of blood donation is good for the health or immunity. Juices like fresh fruit juices, vegetable juices such as orange, watermelon, pineapple, carrots and tomato, spinach this will be helps in raising the iron levels, drinking juices before donating the blood van lowers the likelihood of suffering any type of blood donation adverse effects.

FOODS TO BE AVOID BEFORE BLOOD DONATION

1. HIGH FAT FOODS

After blood donation, blood sample is screened for the pathogens and illness before it being transfused. Excess fat can interfere with the results and that blood may be rejected for the transfusion. If someone consumes a lot of excess fat products then they have to avoid these meals at least before 3 or 4 days of blood donation.

2. ALCOHOL

Avoid alcohol at least 24 hours before donating the blood. If donated blood contains traces of alcohol then it is not good for the person receiving the blood. If someone drink alcohol then it is important to cleanse the system with additional litres of water.

3. ASPIRIN

Aspirin is a drug, and should not be used these type of drugs at least 48 hours before donating the blood. It can interfere with the platelets. If someone used these types of drugs then it is important to notify the doctors if they have been taking it for a long time.

4. SMOKING

There is no relation or have no effect on the chances of blood donation, but as we all know that smoking is not good for health, it raises the blood pressure, which may prevent from donating the blood. If someone has a habit of smoking then it is restricted or avoid on the day of donation and 3-4 hours of after donating the blood. These were some foods and beverages to consume and avoided before and after the blood donation. Donating blood have a various health benefits, it is advisable to address potential negative effects from the doctors. If proper diet and water is consume in a healthy or good manner then people may not be suffered from any negative effects of donating the blood.
